There’s an exciting, new, and mysterious concept on the horizon, certain to pique the curiosity of Memphis restaurant aficionados. An eatery called Ojos Negros has filed paperwork to open on Winchester Road.
Though the exact nature of Ojos Negros is not yet explicitly clear, it seems probable that the restaurant will specialize in Mexican cuisine. The project is being helmed by Rafael Ramirez, who has launched a variety of Mexican restaurants, including Crazy Mexican Sports Bar and Mariscos el Gallo Giro.
According to a certificate of occupancy filed with the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development, the eatery will be opening at 5959 Winchester Road. Described as a “Restaurant with sale of alcoholic beverages, Brew Pub”, Ojos Negros will be occupying a 4,380 square foot storefront.
The Ojos Negros certificate of occupancy is under review as of March 24, suggesting further details may be in the pipeline soon. The restaurant does not yet have a digital footprint, but What Now Memphis has reached out to ownership and will update readers once further information becomes available.
