Mulligan’s Beach House Bar & Grill in Jensen Beach has closed its doors after a 23-year run. The family-friendly waterfront restaurant served its final meal on Easter Sunday. The restaurant team explained that the rising rent led to the decision to close.
Mulligan’s Waterfront Location in Jensen Beach Closes

Well-known for its tiki-style setting and family-friendly vibe, Mulligan’s became a go-to place for the community. With tropical decor and fresh seafood offerings, the restaurant offered a laid-back dining experience paired with scenic waterfront views.
The restaurant owner, George Hart, shared the closure news on social media. The restaurant served its final meal on April 5. The owner said, “Mulligan’s in Jensen Beach is closing after 23 years in business.”
“We love Jensen Beach; we will always be grateful for our time here and the support we have received,” said the owner.
The owners also thanked the community members for their support and wrote, “We would like to personally thank Ron Rose from the Chamber of Commerce, all of our business neighbors, and my entire staff for our success. We wish you all nothing but the best in the future.”
George Hart founded Mulligan’s Beach House in 1997; over the years, the restaurant chain has expanded across Florida. Apart from Jensen Beach, Mulligan’s operates two other Florida locations: Sebastian and Vero Beach.
Popular items on the menu include firecracker shrimp, calamari, Baja fish tacos, and the fresh mahi sandwich.
Rising Costs Behind Closure Decision
In the post, the restaurant team said the closure was due to rising costs, particularly high rent.
“Unfortunately, for the past couple of years, we worked only to pay the exorbitant rent to the landlord. We absolutely cannot afford to pay the rent any longer,” shared Hart.
For the last six months, the restaurant owner has been trying to sell the location. However, potential buyers were also discouraged by the high rent. “Our business is strong—it has been for 23 years—but not strong enough to cover these expenses,” added the owner.

Jensen Beach employees were offered positions at the company’s other locations in Vero Beach and Sebastian. While the other locations continue operations, Mulligan’s Jensen Beach location has permanently said goodbye.
