Intermountain Packing Cuts Jobs in Idaho
Intermountain Packing LLC is a beef and bison processing company with its headquarters in Idaho Falls. The processing and packaging facility spans approximately 66,000 square feet.
The plant provides meat processing services all in a single location. The processes include harvesting, fabrication, steak portioning, grinding, and packaging.
On April 3, 2026, the company laid off employees at its facility at 1096 E Iona Rd, Idaho Falls. However, the company later submitted the required notice under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act.
WARN notices are normally submitted 60 days before layoffs or closure. The notice informs employees and workforce agencies regarding layoffs. This allows agencies to coordinate support services and retraining opportunities.
Intermountain Packing at a Glance
Intermountain Packing provides processing solutions and quality services to livestock producers and meat distributors. Its facility supports large-scale production while maintaining USDA safety and packaging standards.
Vacuum-packed and case-ready packaging helps to keep food fresh and increase shelf life. The company provides its products to local ranchers, meat marketers, grocery retailers, and consumers.
In July 2025, Intermountain Packing was acquired by American Farmers Network (AFN). AFN is a Bellevue, Washington-based grass-fed beef supplier. According to EIN Presswire, the acquisition was intended to vertically integrate the company’s supply chain.
The acquisition enables AFN to introduce cattle processing, fabrication, and further operations in-house, which were outsourced earlier.
According to Sanin Mirvic, Founder and CEO of American Farmers Network, the Intermountain Packing facility, with its case-ready processing, allows end-to-end processes under one roof.
Bill Hampton, Chief Financial Officer of Intermountain Packing, added, “We are thrilled to join forces with American Farmers Network. This partnership allows us to deploy new processing capabilities and expand our plant’s capacity. Together, we are poised to set new standards in the grass-fed beef industry, delivering exceptional products to our consumers while optimizing our operations.”
The layoffs come less than a year after the acquisition by American Farmers Network. Further details regarding reasons and employee dislocation support have not yet been disclosed.
