Home Eat, a Bay Area-based Chinese restaurant offering regional and fusion dishes, is getting ready to open a new location in Union City at 33348 Alvarado-Niles Road.

The company’s new location is set to move into the former home of The Rose Garden Restaurant in Central Plaza, according to a liquor license application. The previous tenant, operated by the Wong family, closed in August 2025 after 48 years in business. While an exact opening date has yet to be announced, Home Eat continues to expand across the region with multiple existing locations.

Founded in 2015 under its original name Fashion Wok, Home Eat has grown into a multi-location brand with restaurants in cities including Cupertino, Fremont, San Jose, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, and Milpitas. The concept has evolved from smaller hot pot offerings into a larger format that incorporates Sichuan, Hunan, Taiwanese, and fusion-style dishes.

The upcoming Union City location will add to Home Eat’s presence in the East Bay, placing it in a long-standing restaurant space within Central Plaza. The site previously served the community for decades, and its transition reflects ongoing changes in the local dining landscape. This will be an excellent landing space for Home Eat, given the established customer base and surrounding residential neighborhoods.

Menu offerings at Home Eat span a wide range of categories, including hot pots, barbecue fish dishes, noodle soups, and stir-fried classics. Popular items include Mongolian beef, kung pao chicken, and combination fried rice, along with more specialized dishes like spicy boiled fish and cumin lamb. The restaurant also features cold dishes, dumplings, and chef-driven seafood options, including lobster and crab preparations.

In addition to traditional entrees, the menu includes combo meals, rice and noodle dishes, and a selection of desserts and beverages, such as milk teas and fruit juices. Home Eat continues to focus on offering a broad but structured menu that caters to different tastes while maintaining a consistent dining experience across its locations.
