On June 29, 2026, Whatnow San Francisco published an article stating that The Italian Homemade Company (Piadina Original Marina LLC) had been shut down or ordered closed by the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH). That report was incorrect, and the article has been removed.

The Italian Homemade Company was never ordered closed by SFDPH and remained open and operating at all times.

The error originated from an inspection database entry that automatically flags a facility as “closure” status under certain conditions, including when a major violation is not separately marked as corrected on-site, even if the violation was in fact addressed immediately. In this case, two violations, related to food cooling and dishwasher sanitization, were identified during an inspection and corrected on-site the same day. SFDPH has since confirmed this and corrected its public record.

Whatnow regrets the error and any confusion or disruption it may have caused The Italian Homemade Company, its customers, and its business operations.
