Lincoln Avenue Communities Starts Construction of New Housing Project
Lincoln Avenue Communities (LAC) has begun developing a 321-unit affordable housing project in Columbus, Ohio. The company marked the groundbreaking of the project, inviting dignitaries to the event. U.S. Representative Mike Carey, Ohio Housing Finance Agency Executive Director Bill Beagle, and OCCH President and CEO Catherine Cawthon attended the event.
The company is known for building affordable housing projects. According to PRNewswire, this project is for individuals and families earning up to 60% of the area’s average income. It is also LAC’s first ground-up project in Ohio.
Project Details
The development is called Landmark on Scioto and is being built on a 44.5-acre site. The 321 homes designed for affordability come in two-, three-, and four-bedroom layouts. The community will feature one- and two-story buildings instead of high-rise apartments.
It brings a neighborhood setup and is a Build-to-Rent model. This means that the homes are specifically for renting and not ownership. The amenities include a fitness center, swimming pool, clubhouse, outdoor dining and grilling areas, and open green spaces.
To elevate the modern residential neighborhood vibe, a public park will be added as part of the development. The park will span around 7 acres and will be given to the city.
The project is being developed under a public-private partnership. The Ohio Housing Finance Agency and other local housing organizations and officials are collaborating with LAC. The leasing is expected to begin this summer, while completion is expected in 2028.
