The Farmer’s Larder, a local grocery store selling farm-sourced foods, produce, and prepared meals, is preparing to open in Columbus at 900 S. High Street.

The store’s grand opening is scheduled for November 21, 2026, according to the company’s website, and it will be located in the Brewery District just outside German Village. Owner Jamie Pritchard decided to open near German Village after years of participating in its farmers market and seeing a need for a neighborhood grocery store. Customers can expect local produce, pantry staples, prepared foods, and specialty grocery items.

Pritchard also owns WIT Farm, which she founded in eastern Ohio in 2021. She has farmed for nearly a decade and has sold meat at the German Village Farmers Market for the past eight years. According to the company’s website, the idea for The Farmer’s Larder grew from noticing that residents had limited options for picking up everyday groceries, such as bread, eggs, and milk, outside the farmers market’s Saturday hours.

The closure of Chapman’s Eat Market in German Village last August also helped inspire Pritchard to pursue the grocery store. Although she had considered opening her own market for years, she had questioned whether the idea would succeed in her hometown of about 600 residents. Instead, she decided to bring the concept to a neighborhood where she already had connections with local farmers and customers.

The Farmer’s Larder plans to source approximately 90% of its products locally, with the remaining 10% consisting of gourmet foods not found in Ohio. Many items will come from suppliers at the German Village Farmers Market and businesses supplied by WIT Farm. Featured businesses include The Farmstead Market, Truest Farms, The Baker’s Rack, and Anna Bakes Things.

Beyond everyday groceries, the store will offer party platters, customizable Farm Shares, and holiday meal packages made with local ingredients. Farm Shares can include meat, fruits and vegetables, milk, and eggs, with subscription options available for regular orders. The store has already posted the Thanksgiving Meal package online for reservations. The Farmer’s Larder will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
