A roastery known for supporting the community is bringing a brick-and-mortar to the area later this year.

The Full City Roastery team recently announced their new location will be opening at 74 Market Street in downtown East Palestine. This is owner Ben Ratner‘s second brick-and mortar, following roasting for local coffee shops and their sister business LiB’s Market in Salem. Ratner told What Now Columbus the opening date will be around two months after the bidding process starts.

LiB’s Market at 474 E State Street in Salem opened in 2015, and has been successful as one of the city’s signature coffee shops. Their coffee is roasted in-house and the team will be bringing the same brews to the new location.

“We signed the lease last month,” Ratner said.

Ratner and the team use coffee machines from Mill City Roasters out of Minneapolis, which have become popular equipment for roasting specialty coffees. A few signature brews at LiB’s Market include their 20-ounce frozen latte with choice of flavor, a cappuccino, flare white/cortado and drip coffee.

Along with the coffee flavors, food options will include wraps, flatbreads and pastries. There are plans to introduce dinner options in the future, differing from the Salem location which closes at 2. Ratner described Salem as very “brunch-heavy,” and he wants to make the East Palestine shop more distinct.

The building is near the intersection of Lincoln Avenue, just north of Sparkle Market grocery store. The area will have a community lawn where events will be held like yoga, and people can read a book while enjoying their coffees. Ratner wants to incorporate The Learning Tree Child Care Center next door for family events.

“East Palestine doesn’t really have a meeting place,” Ratner said.

Construction is expected to last until at least the end of the spring. For more updates on Full City Roastery and the opening date, visit their Instagram @fullcityroastery.
