The popular sports, beer and wings spot is moving near the Ohio River on the south side of town.

Schmidt Family Restaurant Group, a franchise company which manages Wendy’s and Buffalo Wild Wings locations, recently announced the team is moving their wings restaurant to 2710 S 3rd Street. The current Buffalo Wild Wings in the city is at the Ironton Hills Shopping Center. As construction has just started, franchise chairman Scott Schmidt told What Now Columbus the opening date is looking like October or November.

From WSAZ, Schmidt Family Restaurant Group operates six Bdubs locations around Ohio, and this new 7,500-square-foot restaurant will be their largest. Rather than being attached to a strip mall, the team wanted to build a location that is stand-alone and is more of a destination.

The restaurant group started after Schmidt started two Wendy’s franchises in Portsmouth in the 1980s, eventually acquiring a Buffalo Wild Wings location in 2004. As the company was acquired in Columbus, Schmidt and his team were very aware of Bdubs’s growth. Since then, the company has grown to managing around 82 restaurants around Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia.

The restaurant will be on the west side of S 3rd Street, close to the river. A Dollar General is next to the address, and this is south of downtown Ironton. The area where Buffalo Wild Wings is being built is mostly residential.
