With locations in Dekum, Russell, and Happy Valley, Tamale Boy is a restaurant offering brunch and seasonal offerings drawing from the cuisines of various regions of Mexico. Now, according to its website, Tamale Boy is preparing to relocate its Russell location to a new home.
Tamale Boy HQ will open at 2323 N Williams Ave. soon. Although an opening date hasn’t been officially set yet, owner Jaime Soltero Jr. told What Now on Friday that a soft opening is expected in mid-May, with a Grand Opening to follow based around either Memorial Day or the beginning of the World Cup in early June.
“We’re going to replicate some of the menu at Colibri,” Soltero said, referring to Colibri by Tamale Boy, a sister restaurant to the Tamale Boy brand, located at 1208 NW Gilsan Street. “We’ll be having rotating specials like we normally do.”
What else should people know about Tamale Boy’s menu these days? What Now asked.
“Well, we’ve had a lot of success with our fish tacos, and everybody still raves about the Burrito del Mar. We’re going to bring back the Ribeye Aguachile. We’re also going to have a cocktail program inspired by Mexican mercados, with lots of aguas frescas and other drinks you’d find at the market.”
The North Williams Avenue location is situated at the intersection with North Page Street, near Lillis Albina Park.
