A new food cart pod will open in May at the intersection of Northeast Fremont Street and 44th Avenue, in the former home of Barrett Automotive, according to coverage by The Oregonian. Brought to life by the Portland-based DBS Group, it will “fill a gap in the neighborhood as a casual gathering space for patrons of all ages.”
Fremont Garage’s opening is expected to take place by Memorial Day weekend, bringing together eight different restaurant brands, plus a full bar, indoor and outdoor seating, and a space for children to play.
“From the beginning, the goal was to build something that reflects what the neighborhood actually wants,” Daniel Silvey, the partner at DBS Group who is heading up the project, says in the Oregonian coverage. “It’s about creating a comfortable, everyday spot where people can gather without overthinking it.”
Six of Fremont Garage’s eight food vendors have been revealed. They include “Poblano Pepper, Best Shawarma, We Feast Burgers, Sakura Yakitori, Que Bacano and Namo Buddha Indian Cuisine.”
What Now reached out to Daniel Silvey on Friday to ask about plans for the launch. Silvey was not immediately available for comment.
