Tacos Frontera is embarking on a huge expansion. The brand has just secured its first franchisee store, set to open later this year in Pasadena. However, first, the owners of the booming brand are opening a taqueria in the Marq-E Entertainment Center at 7620 Katy Freeway, Suite 430.
Owner Erik Leal shared the news that he and his wife, Maribel, will be opening the third Tacos Frontera before this summer. According to this permit, construction on the Marq-E Tacos Frontera was slated to begin towards the end of last year and wrap up before the end of 2025, but Leal confirmed that the opening of the 7620 Katy Freeway is planned to happen before this summer kicks off.
Shortly after, before summer wraps up, Tacos Frontera will open its fourth location and first franchise store in Pasadena.
“We are very excited to come to Pasadena, which would be our first franchise store, and just enjoying this journey that we started almost 3 years ago,” Leal said via email.
Tacos Frontera, identified as Houston’s first authentic Tijuana-style taqueria, was founded by the Leals in 2023. The two opened a second location in Katy in 2025. The brand has continued to blossom ever since.
“Thanks, everyone, for the support of our family-owned business. We were happy to celebrate our first anniversary with you. 🎉,” the brand’s social media page reads.
“Visit us and enjoy the Tijuana Style here at Tacos Frontera.”
At the helm of the new Tacos Frontera franchise store is a representative of the franchise opening the new Pasadena location, Alfresd Clemesha. What Now Houston briefly spoke with Clemesha. Clemsha excitedly confirmed the opening and timeline.
Leal shared further details about the exciting expansion plans for Tacos Frontera in a quick interview with What Now Houston.
“Tijuana style is all about making everything to order, from tortillas, grilling the meat, and adding pure guacamole to almost every menu item. Our best sellers are the Asada tacos, adobada tacos, and mulitas, along with quesabirrias,” Leal said.
