The owners of the restaurant started their journey in the food business in 1995 and operated four locations before finally coming up with the House of Fries concept.

On May 1, 2026, the team announced the closure of the restaurant through a Facebook post, stating, “Today is our last day.” Located at 5322 Antoine Drive in Houston, the restaurant served the community for 15 years.

In the announcement post, the team highlighted the community’s support throughout the journey over the years and noted the space had grown alongside its regular customers. The effort of staff was also acknowledged: “To every person who ever worked with us over the years, thank you. You showed up, you worked hard, and you treated our customers like family. This place was never just ours. It was yours too.”

The aim of the restaurant was to create a menu that combined standout items from their earlier ventures. The team picked their highest-performing dishes, especially the burgers and fries. This strategy shaped a menu with a wide range of tastes.

A clear reason for the sudden closure was not provided by the restaurant.

Community Reaction to the Sudden Goodbye

The shutdown of House of Fries led to an outpouring of responses from the local diners. According to fans, the restaurant was not merely a place to eat, but it served as a social place in Oak Forest.

Many customers expressed disappointment and shared nostalgic memories of the restaurant. One of the diners wrote, “One of the best burgers I’ve ever had. You will be missed.”

Fries were not only a side dish, but they were a major category of the menu. Customers enjoyed several different styles of fries and toppings, which made it a loaded fries destination.

House of Fries combined a casual dining experience with a personalized touch. It was founded on years of culinary experience and a focus on burgers, fries, and hospitality.

The closure of House of Fries left a mark on the Oak Forest community. The closure reflects ongoing changes in local dining landscapes.
