The property at 4061 S. Main Street in Historic South-Central will undergo a complete transformation. The project has been filed with the Los Angeles City Planning Department. It aims to address the need for affordable housing.
Affordable Units Coming to Historic South-Central
A new 100% affordable housing complex is planned, replacing an early 20th-century residential property. According to city filings, a new 7-story, 83-unit apartment building is expected at 4061 S. Main Street.
All the units will be reserved under an income-restricted group, making it a completely affordable project. City records list Raymond Saviss of Sasi Main, LLC as the applicant, with Kamran Ravandi of SG Design Inc. serving as the project representative.
The current structure is a two-story, four-unit building developed in 1908, according to Urbanize LA. The new building will feature one, two, and three-bedroom apartments, with parking spaces for 31 vehicles.
According to building plans shared by LA YIMBY, the building’s lower levels include a lobby, gym, and elevator access, along with the parking. Bicycle parking and storage plans are also included in the building design.
The new building will replace the ageing structure. It will also add a high-density residential building to South-Central.
The proposed project at 4061 S. Main Street is an initiative to increase affordable housing in Los Angeles. The project will offer income-restricted units and support the wider city program to enhance access to housing and city density.
