American pop cuisine brand Chain is set to launch its first extended pop-up in Los Angeles. The six-month dining experience, beginning September 2, 2026, features exclusive menu items from famous chefs. Guests can also get limited-edition snacks and desserts developed in partnership with General Mills.
Chain Expands With First Long-Term Residency
The cuisine brand prepares to bring its debut extended pop-up concept at Topanga Social inside Westfield Topanga. The six-month residency marks a notable expansion for Chain, which generally offers limited-time dining experiences.
The concept draws inspiration from traditional mall food courts, combining familiar chain-inspired dishes with original creations from guest chefs.
B.J. Novak, Chain’s founder, said, “The same way people have a deep down primal love for the chains of our childhoods, we feel that way about the malls that have always featured them. We love malls and we love chains.“
“Celebrating mall food courts felt like the next step for us, and Westfield is the perfect partner to reimagine the food, brands and memories that shaped American pop culture,” Novak added.
Guest Chefs to Create Exclusive Menu Items

The newest pop-up residency will offer patrons exclusive dishes prepared by award-winning chefs. The participating chefs include:
- Roy Choi – Los Angeles chef, who is the founder of Kogi BBQ and co-star of Netflix’s The Chef Show
- Mason Hereford – New Orleans chef and the founder of Turkey and the Wolf
- Calvin Eng – Brooklyn-based chef-owner of Bonnie’s and a Food & Wine Best New Chef
- Mei Lin – the winner of Bravo’s Top Chef and Food Network’s Tournament of Champions IV.
The company said additional menu details and chef collaborations will be announced in the coming weeks.
General Mills Partnership Adds Limited-Edition Treats
Beyond the offerings by celebrity chefs, the company is joining hands with General Mills to roll out a selection of limited-time snack and dessert offerings. These items are inspired by some of General Mills’ best-known cereal brands.
Additional details will be announced before the Sept. 2 opening.
Once open, the limited-time concept will give Los Angeles diners a chance to try out exclusive chef-prepared dishes and specialty offerings available only during the six-month period.
