A new iSMASH entertainment venue is preparing to open in Charlotte at 8215-C University City Blvd., with franchise owner Aaron Wright targeting a June debut for the location, he told WhatNow Charlotte.
The upcoming venue was selected in part due to its proximity to the university area, nearby entertainment destinations, and access to the light rail, Wright said.
“The demographics were great,” he said. “It’s near the university, there are tons of cars that pass that particular area, it’s near other entertainment venues like the trampoline parks and Topgolf, and it’s close to the light rail.”
Wright also revealed that he owns the rights to all iSMASH locations across North Carolina, with Charlotte marking the company’s second location in the state following the opening of a Wake Forest outpost in May 2025.
Expansion plans are already underway, although Wright said details on future North Carolina locations are still under wraps.
The Charlotte venue will feature four rage rooms and two paint-splatter rooms, alongside two new digital attraction concepts that are relatively new to the iSMASH brand.
According to Wright, the company originally planned to include axe-throwing at the location before pivoting toward digital experiences instead.
Wright said the Charlotte venue will be the first iSMASH location in North Carolina to introduce the new digital attractions, which are not currently available at the company’s Wake Forest outpost.
The concept centers on immersive entertainment experiences where guests can safely break items in controlled rage-room environments or participate in paint-splatter activities while wearing protective gear.
Wright said safety remains a top priority for the company, with guests required to wear equipment, including safety glasses, face shields, and gloves, during activities. Jumpsuits are also available for guests who arrive in inappropriate clothing.
With additional North Carolina expansion already in the works, the Charlotte opening represents another step in iSMASH’s broader growth plans across the state.
