Gateway Jax’s Vandeveer, a new residential building in Downtown Jacksonville, will launch this summer, and with it, a new Japanese restaurant, the Jacksonville Daily Record reported back in March.

Further details about the new Japanese restaurant came to light shortly thereafter, when Vandeveer published an Instagram post about the opening of its ground-floor restaurant, which will be run in partnership with The Indigo Road Hospitality Group.

“The menu is expected to highlight local ingredients and fresh seafood, with wood-fired offerings from the robata grill alongside sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese-inspired dishes, complemented by a thoughtfully curated beverage program,” the post says. “An open kitchen. Evenings at the bar. Tables filled with conversation. A setting designed for gathering, where dining is an experience shaped by people and intention. All of it, just steps from your front door at Vandeveer.”

“Looking forward to seeing this space come to life and become part of the rhythm of Pearl Square,” said one comment by @Pearlsquarejax.

“I’m a big believer in partnerships, and I’m a big believer in aligning yourself with people that have shared values,” reads a quote from Steve Palmer, founder of Indigo Road, included in the post. “And when I met the Gateway team and saw how passionate they were about downtown Jacksonville, it got me excited.”

Stay tuned for more details as they become available.
