Katz Coffee is set to open a new location in the reimagined Terminal B at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) as part of a $2.5 billion expansion. According to a recently filed permit, the buildout for the tenant fitout for the new Katz Coffee and the three additional tenants set to open at 3100 North Terminal Road is almost underway.
The permit details that the $3.5 million construction project is expected to start in mid-July and is slated to wrap up before the end of October this year. If all goes well with the renovations of the 9,647 square foot space, the four tenants should be open by this fall.
Baldi Management Group is behind the concessions tenant fitout and general access seating area. Tenant operators include Katz Coffee, Protein Bar & Kitchen, Jersey Mike’s, and Smash Burger. The four eateries are expected to take up spaces BNW 6, 7, 7B, and 7C.
Katz Coffee was founded by Avi Katz in Houston in 2003. The premier small-batch roaster, with a focus on sustainability, community, and high-quality, ethically sourced beans, started as a one-man operation serving local restaurants before growing into the well-known and beloved regional brand it is today. Katz Coffee specializes in custom roasts, organic, and fair-trade coffees.
What Now Houston reached out to Katz to find out more details about the exciting new addition to Houston’s major airport, but we did not hear back by the time of this publication.
“Since 2003, Katz Coffee has been proud to serve top chefs, restaurants, and coffeehouses, and today, we’re fueling communities across the nation with a whole lot of Liquid Love,” the Katz Coffee website reads.
“As Texas’ largest specialty coffee roaster, we stay true to our roots by keeping our roasting small-batch, sourcing the finest green coffee beans from farmers around the world, and roasting every batch with care and purpose. We believe great coffee starts at the source and continues with a commitment to craft, community, and connection in every cup.”
Katz Coffee is not a traditional coffee shop chain; instead, it supplies coffee to more than 1,200 restaurants, cafés, and grocery stores across Texas, Louisiana, and the U.S. It is notably the exclusive coffee provider for Kolache Factory locations.
The brand already has a presence at IAH, with a location in Terminal D. The expansion to Terminal B comes as a welcome addition for Houston residents and their visitors.
Katz Coffee is anticipated to open in Terminal B inside the George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) at 3100 North Terminal Road by this fall.
