Outdoors Inc., a Memphis-based outdoor retailer, is preparing to close after more than five decades in business. The outdoor and bike shop announced its sudden closure on Facebook. To mark its final weeks of operation, the retail store is offering a going-out-of-business discount.
Outdoors Inc. to Close After 5 Decades in Memphis
A longtime store, Outdoors Inc., is a well-known family-owned outdoor activity gear store. It is one of the go-to destinations for campers, hikers, paddlers, and cyclists in Memphis.
On May 18, the store shared the heartbreaking news of its sudden closure. The team behind the store said, “We have made the difficult decision to close Outdoors, Inc.”
Reflecting on the store’s journey, they wrote, “It’s been 52 great years. Outdoors, Inc. has been our life’s passion, and our greatest joy has been sharing it with all of you. The best part has been outfitting amazing adventures and experiences for our customers, staff, neighbors, and friends.”
The store thanked the community and extended a note of gratitude.
“For over half a century, we have treasured the loyalty of our amazing customers, our dedicated staff, our vendors, and our Memphis community and beyond,” they said. “With our whole hearts, we appreciate each and every one of you. We are truly grateful to you for putting your trust in us to provide you with quality gear.”
The team did not share any official reason or specific date for the closure.
Outdoors Inc. Launches Final Going-Out-of-Business Sale
In the post, the Outdoor team also shared that the store has launched a farewell sale beginning on May 18. “On Monday, May 18, we will begin our going-out-of-business sale. Bike shop sale will start on Tuesday, May 19,” read the message.
The store also added, “Most merchandise will be on sale 25% to 60% off. Boats, bikes, and electronics will be priced individually. Bike maintenance and a few specific items will not be discounted. All sales will be final. Sale excludes any prior purchases.”
Outdoors’ team encouraged the community to visit and enjoy the discounted deals. The offers are only available for in-store shopping.
