Got a craving for a cafecito and a pastelito at 2 a.m.? There’s one place where the “open” sign is lit and the coffee is strong and sweet — Pinecrest Bakery.
The Miami-born Cuban bakery and cafe is expanding rapidly, and is planning a Miami Lakes location. The cafe will open at 15519 NW 67th Avenue, according to the bakery’s website, which simply lists the address as “coming soon“.
Pinecrest Bakery first opened December 2012 by partners Efrain Valdes, Jr., Gladys Valdes, and Joel Rodriguez. The bakeries offer Cuban-American favorites, with most open 24 hours a day — making it an oasis for third-shift employees and night owls.
Today, there are more than 30 locations throughout South Florida with the company slowly moving north from Miami with locations in Broward and Palm Beach counties.
The community-focused restaurant supports many local foundations including Camillus House, the Children’s Spanish Book Festival, the Miami Cancer Institute, and the Moya Foundation. In addition, the restaurant annually participates in Miami’s Latin Restaurant Weeks, making Pinecrest a much loved member of the South Florida community.
