A popular chain is hoping to make Winchester Road a prime destination for diners with a hankering for Southern comfort favorites. Jack’s Family Restaurant, beloved throughout the South for its delicious and filling fare, has filed papers to develop a new location in the Shelby Square Subdivision.

The beloved Southern staple has a subdivision application in with the Memphis and Shelby County Division of Planning and Development for 6480 Winchester Road. The work required is described as “Creating a new lot from Lot 3 of the Shelby Square Subdivision for the development of a new Jack’s Family Restaurant location.”

The application’s status is listed as “pending” as of May 28. While this does not provide a definitive opening timeline, it does show that Memphis diners have a relatively substantial wait ahead of them before Jack’s opening. The application still needs to receive approval before construction can begin.

Jack’s Family Restaurant has been serving up Southern comfort fare since 1960. The restaurant’s popularity has endured, thanks in part to its commitment to the principles that made it a success all of those years ago; as the website states: “while times have certainly changed, one thing remains the same: good food and good people make for a great time, and that’s what helps our customers step into our Southern story every time they stop by.”
