A new Cajun-inspired fast-casual concept has recently joined the food court lineup at Natick Mall, as Bourbon Street Grill officially opened earlier this year at 1245 Worcester St., Suite 2006. The restaurant, which replaced Cajun Cafe, is operated by business partners Tuo “Todd” Xiao and Xing.

Xiao has been in the food service business for many years, with roles ranging from busboy to manager, and he credits Xing as “being the brains” behind the enterprise. The duo felt the food court space was a natural fit, aiming to offer an affordable concept centered around bold flavors, quick service, and freshly prepared food.

“In uncertain times like now, opening a new business is quite the challenge,” Xiao said. “But Natick Mall is a very promising hub with its many amenities and entertainment options.”

Bourbon Street Grill officially opened around mid-April 2025. The pre-opening process took approximately six months, and included renovating the shell, redoing the fire safety system, setting up equipment, and installing proper electrical.

Since debuting last month, Xiao said the reception from the public has been “nothing but great! I love seeing the curious faces of new customers, and anyone simply enjoying our samples,” he shared.

Customers will find a menu inspired by Cajun and Creole flavors, prepared using a mix of grilling, wok cooking, and frying techniques. The business has a wide range of flavors, with unique marinades made in-house.

Currently, the restaurant operates with a relatively small team. Both owners are heavily involved in daily operations five to seven days a week. They have a wonderful front-of-house staff and chefs Xiao calls “blessed to have as part of the team.”

And as Bourbon Street Grill settles into Natick Mall, Xiao hopes the restaurant will contribute something positive to the local dining scene. He plans to focus on consistency and continuing to serve quality dishes.
