Trader Joe’s shoppers in Phoenix may soon have two new places to pick up their favorite grocery finds. The neighborhood grocery chain is expanding its footprint in the Valley with plans for two additional Phoenix stores.
A recently filed liquor license application identifies a new Trader Joe’s location at 4519 E. Thomas Road, while the company’s website lists another Phoenix store as opening soon at 21001 N. Tatum Blvd., Suite 1030, in Desert Ridge Marketplace.
The Desert Ridge location was announced by shopping center owner Vestar. The addition continues the grocer’s growth across Arizona, where it already operates more than 20 stores.
Founded by Joseph Coulombe in 1967, Trader Joe’s has become known for its private-label products, fresh produce, flowers, specialty grocery items, and rotating seasonal offerings. The company describes its stores as neighborhood markets focused on value, discovery, and a more personal shopping experience.
In Phoenix, Trader Joe’s currently operates stores at 4025 E. Chandler Blvd. in Ahwatukee, 4726 E. Shea Blvd. in Paradise Valley, and 4821 N. 20th St. at Town & Country Shopping Center.
The Thomas Road and Desert Ridge stores would bring Trader Joe’s to additional areas of Phoenix as the company continues expanding across Arizona.
