The team behind a Maryland spirits brand is preparing to elevate the distillery experience. Baltimore Spirits Company will be debuting a new production facility featuring a restaurant called Spirit Run by Baltimore Spirits Company in Hampden, reports Baltimore Magazine.
The establishment will be opening its doors in a storefront on Hickory Avenue off of 36th Street, in the former home of a defunct furniture store.
Baltimore Spirits Company’s new stomping ground will redefine what many have come to expect from a distillery. Co-owner Max Lents explains that Spirit Run by Baltimore Spirits Company will eschew the model typically associated with American distilleries, opting for a more European experience, complete with a French inflected menu. Lents states: “The distillery food experience in America is burgers and barbecue. This is going to be an elevated concept.”
This new chapter continues an exciting year for Baltimore Spirits Company; the concept recently left distribution, a decision it explained on social media, saying: “Distribution takes a lot of focus, work, and attention. We prefer spending that time and effort on delivering the highest quality work, rather than satisfying the volume requirements of wholesale. Our whiskey and other spirits take a lot of time and care to make, and we don’t want to put anything less than our best work into bottles. That means patience and limited availability is sometimes the reality.”
Locals will have plenty of time to build up an appetite (and, of course, thirst) for Spirit Run by Baltimore Spirits Company; Lents kindly confirmed to What Now DC that his team anticipates the opening will take the better part of a year.
