F45 Training is coming to Folsom’s Willow Creek Town Center, with owner Amanda D’Amico planning a grand opening on August 1st at 1007 E. Bidwell St., Suite 109. The 3,200-square-foot studio will be the fourth F45 location in the Sacramento area, joining existing spots in Rocklin, Roseville, and Sacramento.
F45 Training was founded in Australia in 2013 and counts actor Mark Wahlberg among its backers. The concept centers on 45-minute group workouts that blend cardio and resistance-based strength training in a coach-led, community-driven setting. The chain now operates about 2,000 franchised studios across more than 50 countries. Unlike traditional gyms that focus on self-guided workouts, F45 emphasizes Functional High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), combining circuit and strength movements into fast-paced workouts.
D’Amico’s path to owning a fitness studio is anything but conventional. She spent more than 20 years in leadership roles in law enforcement and the tech sector, including an early stint at Folsom-based startup Pondera Solutions, which was acquired by Thomson Reuters in 2020 for $125 million. She credits that chapter with giving her the seed money to make the leap into entrepreneurship. Since 2021, she has also been coaching at F45’s Roseville location, a role that gave her a firsthand look at the brand before betting on it herself.
“What gives me confidence is the strength of the F45 mode,l is the demand we’re already seeing from local residents,” D’Amico recently told the Sacramento Business Journal.
The upcoming opening adds another fitness option to Folsom, a city that has seen continued demand for health and wellness concepts as new residential development and population growth fuel interest in fitness experiences.
