Accomplished Detroit restaurateurs are building a new dining destination in the neighborhood.
Agnes is a new concept taking on the name of the street where it is opening, 8047 Agnes in West Village. The team behind Selden Standard, Evan Hansen and Andy Hollyday, have just signed the lease. Hansen told What Now Detroit he does not yet have an opening date.
The address was formerly Metropolitan NY Pizza+Burgers+Cocktails, which closed in October as the lease was up. Owner Rick Stanza’s concept was in the neighborhood for five years. It became a popular spot for their burgers, and later into the opening they debuted the New York-style pizzas.
Hollyday and Hansen have been operating Selden Standard in Midtown Detroit since 2014, and have since been serving up fresh salads, seafood entrees and steak dinners. This marks their second project together. Hansen said they will release more information about the menu and information about the new concept at a later date.
While not much has been revealed about the new restaurant, Crain’s Detroit Business reported the group also includes chef de cuisine from Takoi, Alex Jull and Paul Fradeneck, manager of Selden Standard. The two are overseeing day-to-day operations.
Agnes is opening on the north side of Agnes Street, across from Norm’s Diner. The Red Hook coffee shop also shares the building with Norm’s. This is near the center of West Village.
What Now Detroit is awaiting additional information on Agnes opening in the city.
