University Town Center, the Sarasota shopping mall home to everything from retailers like Best Buy and Ulta Beauty to restaurants like Brio Italian Grille and Jpan Sushi & Grill, will soon be home to a new Dick’s House of Sport, the experiential sister concept to Dick’s Sporting Goods.

“Coming Soon,” says the Mall at UTC Sarasota website, “Your ultimate destination for all things sport. Whether you’re hitting the field, the course or the court, this immersive retail experience is designed to help you elevate your game. Find the top gear for baseball, softball, golf, football, and more — plus practice your skills, connect with your community and attend special events.”

The Dick’s spinoff serves as a kind of proving ground: unlike the classic Dick’s Sporting Goods retail concept, Dick’s House of Sport offers something extra, apart from retail: a space to try gear out.

“Whether it’s your bike or your backswing, we’ve got you covered with the expertise and facilities to try out the latest equipment,” the Dick’s Sporting Goods website says about the House of Sport concept. “Plus, repair, upgrade or maintain your most important gear.”

What Now reached out to representatives of Dick’s Sporting Goods to ask about the opening timeline and other details on the UTC Sarasota Dick’s House of Sport. Stay tuned as What Now awaits more details.
