Simply South is on the move! The authentic vegetarian Indian eatery is planning its first Greater Houston region opening in Katy, according to Community Impact. The new Simply South is expected to open at 24600 Katy Freeway, Suite 1020.
Owner Sree Bharat Gummadi confirmed with What Now Houston that the plan is to open the first Greater Houston Simply South this summer.
“Welcome to Simply South, where we focus on the vegetarian cuisine of India,” the Simply South website reads.
“Our restaurant is a homage to the numerous spices, herbs, and vegetables that are cultivated in India. With our very carefully created dishes, we will show you what India looks like in just one bite. We invite you to join us on the journey through the world of vegetarian Indian cuisine.”
The Houston location is already listed as “coming soon” on the website!
Simply South was founded in Dallas, Texas, in 2024. Although it’s the same name, owner Gummadi shared that the business is not related to an iconic South Indian restaurant in Hyderabad, India, spearheaded by Master Chef Chalapathi Rao.
“What sets us apart is our commitment to showcasing all the flavorful dishes of India, without the use of meat,” the Simply South website reads.
“At Simply South, we use only the freshest of ingredients and top-notch spices to create dishes that will explode in your mouth with their diverse flavors. Our chefs are masters in not only making the food delectable, but also nutritious.”
There are currently four active Simply South restaurants spanning across Texas and Illinois, with locations planned for other regions.
Simply South is celebrated for its 100% vegetarian Indian expansive menu featuring more than 450 items that celebrate the culinary traditions of five South Indian states. Menu highlights span everything from crispy dosas and rich biryanis to decadent desserts and vegetarian meat alternatives.
Try it all out for yourself when the new Simply South debuts in the Greater Houston region in Katy at 24600 Katy Freeway, Suite 1020, this July.
