Trader Joe’s is expanding its Oregon footprint with two new locations, one in Keizer and another in Bend, marking this the most significant growth in years by the grocery chain in the state. Both stores are in the early stages of development, with no official opening dates announced yet, but permits and plans are already in place at both sites.

In Bend, the new store will take over the former JOANN Fabrics location at 61284 S Highway 97, inside the Pioneer Crossing shopping center. Co-owner Darren Dickerhoof confirmed that a shell permit had been submitted to the city. The new spot will be Bend’s second Trader Joe’s, adding to the existing location that has long drawn lines out the door on weekends.

In Keizer, plans have been filed for a 31,829-square-foot building on a vacant lot in Keizer Station. The store would be the first Trader Joe’s in Keizer, a city of roughly 40,000 residents just north of Salem that has been trying to land one for years. A Trader Joe’s spokesperson declined to share specific timelines for either location, but confirmed both are in the works, according to The Oregonian.

Trader Joe’s is one of the most consistent grocery chains in the country, built on a model of private-label products, rotating seasonal finds, affordable prices, and a shopping experience that feels more like a neighborhood market than a big-box store. The chain plans to open more than 20 new stores across the U.S. in 2026, having already opened 34 stores in 2024 and a remarkable 43 in 2025.
