Dollar Tree, the national discount retailer known for its broad selection of everyday essentials and seasonal merchandise, is preparing to open a new location in San Diego at 11974 Carmel Mountain Road.

The company’s new location is set to occupy the former Party City site within Carmel Mountain Ranch Gateway Plaza, according to documents recently submitted to the San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality. While an exact opening date has yet to be announced, the retailer is already listed as a coming soon tenant at the shopping center. Customers can expect a wide assortment of household goods, food and snacks, party supplies, health and beauty products, seasonal décor, craft items, and everyday essentials.

The new store will join a lineup of national retailers at Carmel Mountain Ranch Gateway Plaza, a 44,200-square-foot retail center located at the southeast corner of Carmel Mountain Road and Interstate 15. Existing tenants include Ulta Beauty and BevMo, while nearby businesses include Home Depot, Petco, Barnes & Noble, Sprouts, Trader Joe’s, and Total Wine & More.

Dollar Tree operates more than 9,000 stores across the United States and Canada and has grown into one of the largest discount retailers in North America. The company traces its roots back more than 70 years and has continued expanding its merchandise selection to meet changing customer preferences. In recent years, Dollar Tree has introduced additional price points while maintaining its focus on value-driven shopping.

The retailer describes its shopping experience as a “thrill of the hunt,” with new products arriving regularly across a variety of categories. Customers can find everything from cleaning supplies and kitchen essentials to toys, books, gift bags, candy, and seasonal merchandise. Many locations also offer expanded selections through the company’s Dollar Tree Plus program.
