According to public filings, dd’s Discounts is expanding its footprint in Travis County, preparing to open a new retail location in North Austin. The popular bargain retail chain may set up shop at 1628 Ohlen Road, situated within the Vista Norte shopping center.
What Now Austin reached out to dd’s Discounts representatives, but did not receive an answer before publication.
Construction on the new retail has a completion date set for spring 2027. The project involves a tenant improvement to an 18,482-square-foot space that could accommodate the chain’s signature wide-ranging inventory, including apparel, footwear, home décor, accessories, and household essentials.
Owned by Ross Stores, dd’s Discounts opened its first location in 2004, focusing on offering brand-name merchandise at steep discounts, typically 20 to 70 percent below other retailers’. The chain targets neighborhood shopping centers, and its rotating inventory model encourages repeat visits, since merchandise changes frequently.
The Vista Norte location would follow that playbook, placing the retailer in an established commercial corridor with steady residential traffic in North Austin.
