San Diego-based breakfast and brunch chain Broken Yolk Café is opening a new location downtown in San Clemente, according to a recent announcement from the brand. The upcoming restaurant will be located at 201 Avenida Del Mar, close to the San Clemente Pier, in late 2026.

The new site is being developed through a multi-unit agreement with operator Nick Harris, a long-time franchise partner who currently runs eight Broken Yolk Café locations. Harris and his team recently opened a location in Lake Havasu City in April and are now turning their attention to San Clemente.

“Our team absolutely loves this brand,” Harris said in a statement. “We saw a strong opportunity in this location, right in the heart of downtown San Clemente, surrounded by shops and attractions. It’s a great fit for the energy we aim to bring to every restaurant.”

Founded in 1979, Broken Yolk Café has grown into a 42-unit system with locations across multiple states, including Arizona, Nevada, Texas, Idaho, and soon Indiana. The San Clemente opening will become the brand’s 30th location in Southern California.

John Gelastopoulos, president of Broken Yolk Café, highlighted the significance of ongoing growth in the brand’s home state. He noted that expansion requires continued innovation and a focus on guest experience, adding that the franchisee team behind the project brings a strong people-first approach.

With construction plans underway, the San Clemente location is expected to strengthen the brand’s presence along the Orange County coastline while serving both local residents and seasonal visitors.
