A new grocery experience is taking shape in Woodbridge. Publix Grocery, a rapidly expanding chain, is preparing to make its area debut in Prince William County, with construction currently underway.

Physical development of the Ashland Square grocery store is still in the very early stages. Virginians driving past the site at the intersection of Dumfries Road and Spriggs Road will mostly note the removal of dirt and some early infrastructure indicators.

While this initial stage is unlikely to inspire an abundance of enthusiasm, it is laying an important foundation for Publix, which will span more than 50,000 square feet once it is completed and will create approximately 150 new jobs.

A precise opening date is not yet available for the Woodbridge Publix, however it is expected to be customer-ready at some point in 2027.

The company is enthusiastic about arriving in the area and helping improve the shopping experience for area families. Publix media relations manager Jared Glover states: “We are excited to continue our growth across Virginia…We look forward to making grocery shopping a pleasure for our new customers soon.”
