Postino WineCafé is preparing to open its second Triangle location at 201 S. Estes Drive, Suite 302, in Chapel Hill’s University Place, with the Phoenix-based concept targeting a fall debut, according to the Triangle Business Journal.
The new restaurant comes about two years after Postino opened in Raleigh’s Village District. Lauren Bailey, co-founder and CEO of parent company Upward Projects Restaurant Group, told the Triangle Business Journal the company’s original plan was to wait longer before adding another Triangle location. Still, the Raleigh restaurant’s strong sales accelerated those plans.
“This is actually sooner than we normally would do it,” Bailey told the publication. She added that the Village District restaurant “gave us confidence to open a second one.”
According to the publication, the Chapel Hill restaurant will accommodate 180 guests indoors and another 100 on an 1,800-square-foot patio. Guests can expect many of the same offerings available at the Raleigh location, including the brand’s signature bruschetta boards, paninis, salads and extensive wine selection.
Bailey also told the publication the restaurant expects to hire approximately 60 employees once it opens.
Founded in Phoenix 25 years ago, Postino WineCafé has grown to locations across Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Tennessee and Texas. According to the Postino WineCafé website, the concept is known for its wine program, shareable dishes and neighborhood café atmosphere. Beyond Chapel Hill, the brand is also preparing to open a second Charlotte location and make its Chicago debut.
