McEwan Fine Foods, the gourmet grocery retailer founded by chef Mark McEwan, is getting ready to open a new location in North York at Bayview Village Shopping Centre.
The company’s third location is scheduled to open in 2027 at the shopping center, which is currently undergoing a major interior renovation expected to be completed later this year, according to BlogTO. The new store will span 9,326 square feet and expand McEwan’s presence beyond its existing locations at Shops at Don Mills and TD Centre. While an exact opening date has not yet been announced, customers can expect prepared meals, fresh produce, meats, seafood, bakery items, deli and cheese selections, floral offerings, and gifting products.
Founded by celebrity chef Mark McEwan, the retailer has built a reputation for its chef-curated grocery selection and prepared food program. The company’s Financial District location is especially known for its hot food table, while its stores also carry locally sourced products that are less commonly found at larger grocery chains. The Bayview Village location will mark McEwan’s third store in Toronto.
This will be an excellent landing space for McEwan as Bayview Village Shopping Centre continues its redevelopment. Located in North York, the shopping center is home to more than 100 retail stores and remains one of Toronto’s established shopping destinations. The addition of McEwan will further expand the center’s food offerings as the renovation project moves toward completion.
The new store will feature many of the products customers have come to expect from the brand, including chef-prepared meals for convenient dining, fresh produce, premium meats and seafood, bakery items, deli selections, specialty cheeses, flowers, and gift items. The retailer has focused on combining grocery shopping with restaurant-quality prepared foods since its first location opened.
McEwan’s expansion comes as Toronto’s specialty grocery market continues to evolve. BlogTO notes that Pusateri’s has faced business challenges in recent years, while other premium food retailers are also growing, including Stock TC, which plans to open in a former Pusateri’s space, and Cumbrae’s, which recently opened a large new location in Dundas.
“Opening at Bayview Village represents an exciting opportunity to connect with a community that values quality, craftsmanship, and exceptional experiences,” said Mark McEwan, president and CEO of The McEwan Group, in a press release. “Whether customers are stopping in for everyday essentials, a chef-prepared meal, or ingredients for a special occasion, we look forward to becoming a trusted destination for gourmet food and bringing the McEwan experience to even more Toronto shoppers.”
