Pilot Flying J Travel Center in North Houston is set to undergo some major renovations. According to a recently filed permit, the Pilot Flying J in Greenspoint at 15915 North Fwy will soon look different.

“Remodel of existing Pilot Travel Center. Existing building is 17,079 sf. Remodel area is 11,958 sf. Addition 151 sf,” the permit reads.

The permit further details that construction on the North FWY PFJ is expected to start in mid-January next year and is slated to wrap up by the end of April 2027. If all goes well with the $6.3 million construction project and permitting, the renewed Pilot Flying J Travel Center should be completed and open by the spring of next year.

What Now Houston reached out to Pilot Flying J Travel Center Regional Manager Brian McCrory to find out more details about the upcoming North Houston construction project, but we did not hear back by the time of this publication. What Now also reached out to the brand’s President Jesús O. Guerra, but we did not hear back by the time this article was published.

“Pilot continues to shape the future of transportation—operating North America’s third-largest fuel tanker fleet, supplying 12 billion gallons annually, and expanding access to biodiesel, renewable fuels, EV charging, and low-carbon alternatives,” the Pilot Flying J website reads.

“Today, Pilot’s success reflects decades of strategic growth and the dedication of its team.”

Founded by Jim Haslam in 1958, the brand started as a single gas station in Gate City, Virgina before quickly expanding.  Pilot opened its first convenience store in 1976, followed by its first full-service travel center in Corbin, Kentucky, in 1981.

“Throughout the 1980s, Pilot focused on building a nationwide network, introducing travel centers with fast-food restaurants in 1988, which laid the foundation for its growth into one of the largest quick-service restaurant franchisees in the world.”

Pilot Flying J Travel Center in Greenspoint at 15915 North Fwy continues that legacy as the company renovates the space that should be completed and open by next spring.
