Italian restaurant Tavola in Houston’s Uptown neighborhood has closed. In a social media announcement, the Bastion Collection, which operated the restaurant, shared the news while thanking guests and staff for their support.
Tavola Closed Its Doors on Post Oak Boulevard
Tavola, located at 1800 Post Oak Blvd in Houston closed its doors this week. The Bastion Collection described the closure as the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. The owners thanked the staff for their dedication and expressed gratitude to customers who supported Tavola throughout its run.
The team behind the restaurant did not cite any specific reason for closure. However, the post suggested that a new concept is planned for the space, stating, “As we close this chapter, we are excited for what comes next and look forward to sharing more about the future of this space soon.”
The closure aligns with The Bastion Collection’s long-term plans for its Houston portfolio. While Tavola has closed, the group’s other concepts at the property, including Bar Moon and Soleil upstairs, continue to serve diners.
The owners also encouraged diners to find Tavola team members at their other Houston locations. Diners can therefore explore Le Jardinier at the Museum of Fine Arts, Cafe Leonelli, and Bastion Events.
As the sudden closure was confirmed on social media, Houston diners were left in shock. Many shared memories of dining at the restaurant during its time in Uptown. Loyal fans of Tavola’s Italian dishes are sad to lose their neighborhood go-to spot.

About the Italian Eatery
Tavola was first opened in partnership with Berg Hospitality; later, the ownership and operation were taken over by The Bastion Collection. Tavola was a modern Italian restaurant with a vibrant but elegant ambiance. It served handmade pastas, wood-fired pizzas, fresh seafood, quality steaks, seasonal salads, and traditional Italian desserts.
Diners also used to pair food with an extensive wine selection and a variety of craft cocktails. The restaurant also provided private dining rooms for special events and corporate parties.
A fusion of contemporary interiors and traditional hospitality, Tavola was designed to bring the essence of an Italian gathering around the table. Over the years, the restaurant earned its recognition for its signature items, including lobster linguine, chicken Milanese, freshly created pasta, and more elevated Italian dishes.
Tavola has been closed, but The Bastion Collection is continuing its investment in Houston. The Post Oak Boulevard space is expected to go through a new chapter in the coming weeks as a replacement concept is under development.
