Those searching for their signature scent will soon be in luck.

Tijon Perfume Lab is preparing to make its downtown Savannah debut this summer at 7 W. York St., with franchise owners Carolyn Sanford and her partner, Dayton Pietsch, at the helm.

The shop offers an interactive fragrance-making experience where guests can create personalized perfumes or colognes with guidance from instructors. Classes range from an in-depth, three-hour exploration of oils to a 90-minute mix-and-match session and a quick walk-in experience.

“We have over 300 different fragrant oils to choose from. You get a lab coat to make it official with the lab experience. Then you create your own custom perfume or cologne. We also keep the client’s information on file, so if they ever want to order it again or in a lotion, body cream, oil, or home and linen mist, we can create it in their signature scent,” Sanford told What Now Charleston

She continued, “We also do gift bags that’s worth up to $45. We have over 25 pre-made perfumes in store, and guests will be able to pick a small 15 millimeters bottle that they can take in their gift bag. It also helps if they go around and smell the perfumes at the beginning of class to see what scents they really like.”

Additionally, guests can enjoy a complimentary glass of champagne with each class.

The Savannah location will offer the same experience as the company’s other outposts while incorporating “a nice Savannah charm.” Savannah-specific wallpaper featuring the marshlands will line the space, and Sanford plans to showcase local artwork from Savannah College of Art and Design students.

Founder John Berglund launched Tijon Perfume Lab with its first location in St. Martin. Since then, the brand has expanded to Atlanta, Charleston, Houston, Key West, Miami, Nashville, New Orleans, Pensacola, Phoenix, Punta Cana, St. Thomas, Tampa, West Palm Beach and Winter Park.

As a first-time business owner, Sanford looks forward to joining the growing brand and becoming part of the Savannah community.

“I think, honestly, I’m excited about meeting the community and getting involved in the city of Savannah. It’s special here. It’s rewarding and feels amazing having something we can call our own,” she said.

The Savannah location plans to open in August. Visit the Tijon Perfume Lab website and follow along on Instagram and Facebook for the latest updates.
