Velvet Taco‘s first restaurant location in Georgetown and 59th overall will be at 1316 W. University Ave., Suite 103. The restaurant will officially open at 10:30 a.m. on July 29. The opening is expected to bring around 50 new jobs to the city.

As part of the opening celebration, Velvet Taco will introduce the Georgetown Honey Chipotle Chicken taco. It will be served from July 29 to August 4. The special taco is made with crispy chicken tenders, honey chipotle sauce, ranch crema, napa slaw, and avocado on a flour tortilla.

A portion of sales from the specialty taco will support The Georgetown Project, a nonprofit that serves children and youth throughout the community. The first 59 guests who sign up for The Velvet Room rewards program on opening day will receive free tacos for one month.

The team is looking forward to opening up the doors to guests and turning it into a community hotspot for repeat visits, said General Manager Mark Mohammed. “We’ve built a great team here in Georgetown, and everyone is ready to get the doors open.”

Velvet Taco is known for combining global flavors with scratch-made ingredients. More than 20 tacos and bowls will be served at the Georgetown location. Diners will enjoy popular choices like Spicy Tikka chicken, Bacon Smash Burger, and Fish N’ Chips tacos.

Additional menu include the brand’s signature Red Velvet Cake, baked fresh daily at the restaurant, Red Curry Coconut Queso, and the Kick-Ass Margaritas. Guests can also expect the restaurant’s Weekly Taco Feature (WTF). It is a limited-time taco that rotates weekly.

The restaurant will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. from Sunday through Wednesday. Diners will be served from 10:30 a.m. to midnight on Thursdays and 10:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Established in Dallas in 2011, Velvet Taco has grown to nearly 60 restaurants throughout the U.S. and beyond. The Georgetown opening continues the brand’s expansion into a new market with its signature menu and community initiatives.
