Two businesses are preparing to make a splash in Washington Township, New Jersey.
Deeper Self Scuba and Drexel Scuba and Swimwear, owned by Chris and Heather Drexel, will open at 601 Hurffville Cross Keys Rd. A “coming soon” sign for the businesses stands at the corner of Greentree Road and Hurffville Cross Keys Road, according to a photo shared by 42 Freeway.
New Jersey native Chris has dived since he was 13 years old and explored shipwrecks around the world during his Army career. He became a PADI instructor in 2020 and now teaches basic scuba certification, specialty courses and technical diving, helping divers build their skills while sharing his passion for underwater exploration, according to the website.
Once certified, Deeper Self Scuba offers dive trips throughout New Jersey, New York, North Carolina and the Caribbean, giving divers hands-on experience.
Deeper Self Scuba also has a mission to support veterans through scuba diving. Chris launched the initiative after experiencing firsthand how diving helped him find “inner peace” following his military service.
On the other hand, Heather discovered scuba diving later in life and came to enjoy it.
“I started out terrified, diving only for love. Now, I design for the passion I found along the way,” she said via the website.
Drexel Scuba and Swimwear, with the tagline “Built by Divers. Designed for Adventure,” creates custom wetsuits and sells men’s and women’s swimwear, along with diving gear and equipment.
The wetsuits use premium Yamamoto neoprene, a lightweight, flexible material known for its warmth, durability and comfort.
An official opening date has not been announced. However, customers can already place online orders for swimwear. For more information, visit the Deeper Self Scuba and Drexel Scuba and Swimwear websites.
