Club Pilates is set to anchor the fitness offering at Tuscan Ridge Commons, a new retail development planned for the intersection of N.C. 42 and Tuscan Ridge Way in the Clayton area, outside Flowers Plantation.
According to the Triangle Business Journal, Club Pilates has signed a lease at the 13,664-square-foot retail center alongside Domino’s, Burrito Shak and Hotworx, according to a leasing listing from Partners Commercial Realty. The building is expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Real estate investor Chase Riker is leading the development through Tuscan Ridge Commons LLC.
The new studio will be owned by franchisee Jon Smith, and will mark Club Pilates’ first location in Johnston County. Smith told WhatNow Charlotte the studio is currently targeting a first-quarter 2027 opening, with construction expected to begin once the space is turned over later this year.
“We’re looking for continued growth in markets that are growing, and Clayton is a prime market to bring our brand and the benefits of Pilates,” Smith said. “We’re super excited about the opportunity to introduce Pilates to a whole new audience.”
Smith said the team is focused on creating an approachable environment for newcomers, noting that many members at new studios are trying Pilates for the first time.
“Our vision for our communities is that they would move better, feel better and do life better,” he said. “Everybody that walks into our studio can have a successful workout, whether they’ve had previous Pilates experience or not.”
According to the company’s website, Club Pilates offers reformer-based Pilates classes for a range of fitness levels, with programming centered on strength, flexibility, balance and mobility. The brand operates hundreds of studios across North America through its franchise network.
Looking ahead, Smith said he believes the Clayton area is well positioned for the concept. “I think Clayton is an awesome market. It’s probably underserved with boutique fitness, so we’re excited to have a presence there,” he said.
