2026 is not yet over, but an unstoppable DMV chain already has its eyes on 2027. South Block will be bringing delicious and nutritious options to Eastern Market early next year, reports PoPville.

The popular concept has signed a lease to open at 700 Pennsylvania Avenue SE. South Block does not yet have a specific opening date on the calendar; the press release pertaining to the new location says only that the storefront will be customer-ready in early 2027.

South Block CEO Amir Mostafavi explains the significance of this new location, saying “Opening in Eastern Market feels especially meaningful because Washington, D.C. has been home to South Block for the past 15 years. We started here with a simple mission to make people feel awesome, and we’re grateful to have become part of so many neighborhoods across the DMV.”

South Block has made a name for itself-and earned a devoted following-by nurturing both the bodies of its customers and the communities it services. Mostafavi states: “We’re excited to bring our fresh smoothies and açaí bowls to the Eastern Market neighborhood while continuing our commitment to giving back. A portion of every purchase supports our nonprofit, Fruitful Planet, helping provide fresh fruits and vegetables to people in need throughout our communities.”

South Block’s arrival will be cause for celebration, and it’s grand opening will reflect that. The eatery will hold a block party, complete with a live DJ, family events, and free acai bowls for the first 100 visitors.

Future Eastern Market South Block customers can look forward to choosing from a menu featuring acai bowls, smoothies, toasts, and juices-all made with organic and fresh ingredients.
