A Calabasas Dining Staple Just Closed After 28 Years of Service

Marmalade Cafe, located on Commons Way, closed its doors permanently on August 2.

Marmalade Cafe has closed its Calabasas location. The iconic neighborhood restaurant served its last dinner on Sunday, August 2, after nearly three decades of service. Westlake Village, Malibu, Sherman Oaks, and El Segundo locations will continue to serve the California community.

Marmalade Cafe Bids Farewell to Calabasas Community

Known for serving fresh and high-quality California-inspired food, the popular restaurant closed its Calabasas location on August 2. Marmalade Cafe, located at 4783 Commons Way, has been a local favorite dining destination for 28 years.

Founded by Selwyn Yosslowitz, Robert Burns Jr., and Bonnie Burns, the original full-service Marmalade Cafe was in Malibu before expanding across California.

The restaurant announced the closure in an Instagram post. The restaurant team confirmed that after decades of wonderful service, Marmalade Cafe closed its Calabasas location on August 2.

The team thanked the community and said, “We are deeply grateful for the friendships, memories, and unwavering support you’ve shared with us over the years.”

In the official closure announcement, the restaurant team did not mention any specific reason for its closure.

Customer Reactions

Customers shared messages of support and memories following the closure announcement. Some guests also shared heartfelt messages and cherished memories. One of them wrote, “Thank you for serving our community for 28 years. I even worked there as a hostess in high school and have very fond memories. Will miss you.”

Another customer commented, “Miss your Warm Seafood Salad; it was soooooo good (send recipe, please). I still have Malibu & Sherman Oaks locations to enjoy the yummy sourdough rolls.”

Even though the Calabasas location of Marmalade Cafe is closed, customers can still enjoy their favorite dishes in other locations. El Segundo, Westlake Village, Malibu, and Sherman Oaks locations remain operational.

With the closure of Marmalade Cafe, the Calabasas dining community has lost a gem of a dining place.
