A New 14-Acre Mixed-Use Development With 328 Apartments and a Food Hall Opens in Decatur

Vela Park has opened in Decatur, marking the completion of the project. The developer hosted a grand opening event featuring a ribbon-cutting ceremony, tours, and remarks from project partners. The mixed-use development includes 328 apartments and Vela Park Food Works, a food hall featuring six vendors.

Vela Park Debuts Mixed-Use Development in Decatur

Perennial Properties celebrated the grand opening of Vela Park on Aug. 5, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event marked the completion of the developer’s investment in East Lake. The event included food and drinks from vendors, along with tours of the apartments and shared amenities.

The grand opening also featured remarks from community leaders and project partners. Speakers included Aaron Goldman, owner of Vela Park; Robert Montwaid, founder of Vela Park Food Works; and Commissioner Ted Terry, DeKalb County Commissioner, District 6, and other leaders.

The event also celebrated the opening of Vela Park Food Works. The food hall was created by the team behind Chattahoochee Food Works. It features six independent food vendors offering a variety of cuisines under one roof.

Vela Park Food Works includes a full-service bar serving cocktails, beer, and other beverages. The food hall offers indoor and outdoor seating with a large patio. It also offers space for community events, live entertainment, watch parties, private events, and neighborhood gatherings.

The food hall serves as a central component of the nearly 14-acre Vela Park development. It brings together restaurants, public green space, and community programming.

Located at 1881 2nd Avenue in Decatur, Vela Park is a mixed-use community with 328 apartments. It features a public green space and hospitality-style amenities. The development is anchored by Vela Park Food Works.

Perennial Properties invested more than $80 million in the development in East Lake. The nearly 14-acre development includes residential, dining, retail, and gathering spaces. It now features housing, dining, local businesses, and gathering spaces. Together, they support East Lake’s continued growth and economic development.

Vela Park is expected to become a new destination for residents and visitors in East Lake.
