R&G Lounge is set to bring a taste of the Bay to the streets of Sin City. The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace recently announced that the beloved Cantonese restaurant, which has been a cornerstone of San Francisco’s Chinatown since 1985, is planning to open a new eatery in the famous Las Vegas Strip destination.

“R&G Lounge has built an extraordinary reputation through its dedication to authentic Cantonese cuisine and creating memorable dining experiences,” The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace Senior General Manager, Lea Willingham, said in a press release announcing the expansion.

“We are thrilled to welcome this celebrated restaurant to The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace and further enhance our world-class dining collection with a concept that honors tradition while delivering exceptional culinary excellence.”

This will mark the restaurant’s Las Vegas debut and its second location overall. More than a restaurant, R&G Lounge serves as a place where families, friends, and communities gather to celebrate milestones, share traditions, and create lasting memories.

“Over the past 40 years, R&G Lounge has grown from a humble single-story establishment to a renowned three-story destination, earning worldwide acclaim for its authentic cuisine and exceptional service,” the R&G Lounge website reads.

“The restaurant’s menu boasts over 150 dishes, including signature offerings such as Salt & Pepper Live Crab, R&G Special Beef, and Lychee Martinis. Guided by the Five Elements Theory, the kitchen harmonizes recipes, techniques, high-quality ingredients, history, and memories to create a dining experience that is both authentic and unforgettable.”

Established in 1985 by Henry Hung and Kinson Wong, R&G Lounge is an iconic Cantonese restaurant located on the famous Kearny Street of San Francisco’s Chinatown. Its name stands for “Roots & Generations”, reflecting a multi-generational family legacy that grew from a cramped 50-seat basement into a renowned three-story dining destination. Co-owner Joe Ling joined in 1996, and by 1998, the restaurant expanded past the basement to occupy three stories, adding a full bar and private VIP rooms to handle growing demand and banquet services.

Hung, who emigrated from China and worked as a contractor, has kept the business booming with the help of his family. His daughter, Chelsea Hung, now serves as CEO and co-owner, representing the second generation of the founding family. Christopher Hung is the Culinary Director of R&G Lounge.

“Opening at The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace marks an exciting new chapter for our family and our restaurant,” he said in the press release.

“R&G Lounge has always been about more than serving great food. It’s about bringing people together, celebrating culture, and creating meaningful experiences around the table. We look forward to sharing the traditions and flavors that have defined our family’s legacy with the Las Vegas community and visitors from around the world.”

What Now Las Vegas briefly spoke with Hung, who confirmed the opening and shared that the plan is to open by the end of this year.

R&G Lounge is anticipated to open on the Las Vegas Strip within The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace at 3500 S. Las Vegas Blvd later this year.
