Construction is underway on a new Trader Joe’s within the Avenues at Northfield (8564 E. Northfield Blvd.) in Denver’s Central Park neighborhood, according to realtor Mariel Ross. It’s one of several changes going on at the shopping site, which is under a rebrand and revitalization from its former use as The Shops at Northfield.
Ross recently visited the site and confirmed the building has “gone vertical”, signaling visible progress on construction. No official completion or opening date has been announced yet. The grocery store will be approximately 12,500 square feet and be accompanied by 153 parking spaces, according to Front Porch NE.
It will be located next to Old Navy and join other new or coming big-name retailers including Wayfair and Life Time gym. Residential development is also adding to the growth in the area. Plans call for 216 market-rate and affordable apartments in what is currently a parking lot at Avenues at Northfield.
Once it debuts, the new Trader Joe’s will add to the grocer’s roster in the Centennial State. Currently, the company operates eight locations in Colorado, in Cap Hill, Hale, Boulder, Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, Greenwood Village, Parker, Littleton, and Westminster.
The company was also eyeing opening a Trader Joe’s in Platt Park, but it appears that permitting processes stalled.
