Café Van Houtte, a coffee shop serving specialty coffee, espresso drinks, and other beverages, is coming to Galeries de la Capitale in Quebec City as part of a $19 million redevelopment of the shopping centre.
The project will transform part of the former Hudson’s Bay store into a new commercial wing for retailers and restaurants, with spaces expected to open gradually in 2027, according to Silo57. Café Van Houtte is listed for winter 2027, while construction and other work are already underway.
Café Van Houtte’s menu includes brewed coffee, espresso drinks, hot chocolate, teas, frappes, and iced drinks. Its espresso selection includes Espresso, Viennese Espresso, Macchiato, Americano, Latte, Cappuccino, Espresso Moka, and Viennese Latte. Customers can also order Matcha Latte, Spicy Chai Latte, and Italian Sodas.
The company says it continues to roast coffee using the traditional small-batch technique and recipes of founder Albert Louis Van Houtte. Its brewed coffee lineup includes Fairtrade-certified options, along with selections from its Classic, Single Origin, Fairtrade Organic, and Flavored collections. Frappes are available in flavors including chocolate, dulce de leche, spicy chai, and raspberry matcha tea.
The Galeries de la Capitale redevelopment will also bring several other businesses to the shopping centre, including L’Imaginaire, ZIBO!, Lululemon, Kiokii and…, The Wings of Fashion, and Campus13. L’Imaginaire’s new location will cover 30,500 square feet, making it the boutique’s largest to date, while ZIBO! will occupy the second floor. The shopping center is also planning L’Atlas, an indoor mini-golf course with 18 themed holes inspired by Mega Parc, covering more than 4,200 square feet and scheduled to open in fall 2026.
