Romados, a Montreal-based Portuguese chicken restaurant, is getting ready to open a new location in Pointe Claire.
The company’s third location is expected to open in mid-September, according to the Montreal Gazette. The new restaurant will mark Romados’ first West Island location after the company opened its second restaurant in Laval earlier this year. While an exact opening date has not been announced, customers can expect the same Portuguese chicken, house-made sides, desserts, and recipes that have made the original restaurant a longtime favorite in Montreal.
Romados first opened in 1994 and has become one of Montreal’s best-known Portuguese chicken restaurants. Vicki Eliopoulos and George Karaglanis took ownership of the business in 2021 and have expanded the brand while preserving its core menu and recipes. According to Eliopoulos, about 30 percent of customers at the original Rachel Street location come from the West Island, making Pointe Claire a natural choice for the company’s next restaurant.
The owners have worked to maintain consistency as the company grows. Karaglanis continues to prepare all of the restaurant’s sauces and dressings, while the company’s longtime pastry chef still makes every dessert. The menu has remained relatively small, with no major recipe or menu changes.
The Pointe Claire location will continue to serve the restaurant’s Portuguese-style charcoal-grilled chicken, traditional sides, house-made sauces, and desserts. Eliopoulos and Karaglanis tell What Now they have intentionally kept the recipes, charcoal-grilled flavor, and overall experience consistent across every location. They added that the new restaurant may also offer beer, although those plans have not yet been finalized and are being considered in response to customer demand.
