The cookers are being turned on at a new chicken spot in the suburb.
The Chicken Coupe has plans for Highland Park as their latest location is coming to 13324 Woodward Avenue. This follows their recent opening in Belle Isle last year. Owner Weesam Ali told What Now Detroit the team is hoping to open around Sept. 1.
The chicken concept was established in 2011 and now operates in Belle Isle, Dearborn and Southgate. While the menu is centered around chicken and waffles, the chain also sells a loaded hashbrown bowls topped with cheese. Their mac and cheese filled with fried chicken is a popular option as well.
Ali is also co-owner of Amo Sami’s Shawarma, with multiple locations around Metro Detroit. It is advertised as starting the “crispy shawarma movement” in the area. While keeping his shawarma business running smoothly, he wants to bank on the success of his chicken concept.
The Chicken Coupe will be at the intersection of Woodward Avenue and Beresford Street. This is across from The Highland Room Banquet Hall. A Little Caesars Pizza is also in the plaza.
Right now, the team is putting the finishing touches on the inside space. More updates on the official opening date can be found on their Facebook page.
