A regional fried chicken chain is set to close its Wrightstown location. According to the official closure announcement, Skip’s Chicken will serve its last chicken sandwich on September 1. The chain’s food truck, Skip’s Food Truck, will continue to serve the community. The Strasburg location will also remain operational.

Skip’s Chicken Bids Farewell to Wrightstown

Skip’s Chicken is a fast-casual regional chain, founded by Daniel “Skip” Stoltzfus, his wife Kathryn, and his friend Marcus Stoltzfus. The business started as a Lancaster County food truck in 2021. It became well known for its high-quality, hand-cut fried chicken and signature sandwiches.

In an Instagram post, the Skip’s Chicken team announced the closure of its Durham Road, Wrightstown, location. The team shared that after careful consideration, the chain has made the difficult decision “to close our Skip’s Chicken Wrightstown location effective September 1.”

The team thanked the community for their support and said, “For the past two years, you’ve welcomed us, supported us, brought your families through our doors, and helped make Skip’s part of this community. We can’t thank you enough.”

According to a Patch report, the Wrightstown location was established in August 2024. The report stated that the chain is closing due to financial challenges and shifting restaurant industry economics. The owners have explained that operating the brick-and-mortar location was not sustainable.

Food Truck and Strasburg Store Will Remain Open

While the Wrightstown location is closing, the chain will continue to operate the food truck. Skip’s Food Truck will serve local events and stops and will also include gluten-free options. Additional details on upcoming stops will be shared on social media.

Along with that, the community can also enjoy the flavors and signature items from Skip’s Chicken at its second location. The Skip’s Chicken located in Strasburg, Lancaster County, will also remain operational, said the Patch report.

Customers with gift cards can use them at the Wrightstown location through August 30. The company said customers who cannot use their gift cards before August 30 can contact the business for a refund of the remaining balance.

As Skip prepares for its final goodbye, it encourages community members to visit one more time.
